As a leading business loan lender and trade finance specialist, Grand City Investment Limited values transparency and accountability, which have been the cornerstones of our operations for over 41 years. Unfortunately, as with any reputable business, we occasionally face baseless and defamatory attacks from competitors and scammers. This page aims to address and debunk these false claims so you can confidently evaluate our credibility and track record.
The internet, while a powerful tool, allows anyone to post unverified information anonymously. Unfortunately, it has become a platform for bad actors, including competitors and scammers, to mislead the public. These individuals often operate under fake identities, posing as dissatisfied customers, to undermine the reputation of legitimate businesses like ours.
Here are some key points to consider:
One of the Trustpilot reviews, posted by an individual under the alias “Conquer,” is particularly concerning. This individual initially approached us as a potential client seeking an SBLC for a project. Upon review, it became evident that he was attempting to misrepresent himself as an SBLC provider. When we questioned him about his credentials, he resorted to insults and even suggested seeking healing from a spiritualist, which further exposed his lack of credibility.
Key facts about this individual:
For reference, his Trustpilot profile and false review can be viewed here. He made two reviews the same day, Nov 7, 2023. In the first review he promoted his scam company, while the second review he claims Grand City is fake.
The review by EP HEALTH, dated June 4, 2024, raises a valid concern. This Canadian customer submitted an SBLC application through a broker and claimed to have sent us a payment. However, we have not received the payment to date.
After a week, we requested a bank tracer, but both the client and his bank have been unable to provide one. When funds are delayed or do not arrive, the appropriate action is to return to the sending bank and request a tracer. A bank tracer report follows the wire transfer’s entire route—from when the money left the sender’s account, through any correspondent accounts, to when it arrived at the beneficiary’s account. If the wire was held up at any correspondent bank, this report will include all relevant details, such as dates and times.
It’s important to note that obtaining a bank tracer is completely free of charge and typically takes only two days for the bank to issue this document, proving that the transfer was made. This transaction occurred in February 2024, and the customer has yet to provide a wire tracer.
I am uncertain whom to hold accountable—whether it’s the broker or the client. We have paused the customer’s application until he is able to provide the tracer. His inability to do so suggests that he never sent any money. Initially, he blamed his broker but has since shifted that blame to Grand City. This review is the only legitimate one on Trustpilot; the rest are smear campaigns by scammers. To prevent situations like this in the future, we have established a policy that does not allow brokers to receive payments directly from customers, clearly stated in all broker contracts.
Our dedication to exposing fraudulent activities has made us a target for scammers. We maintain a Banned Loan & Bank Instrument Providers List, which names known scammers and protects the public from their schemes. While this work has garnered us death threats, we remain committed to safeguarding the industry and our clients.
Why The Reviews Are Fraudulent: If you own Grand City for instance and someone else has created a clone of your business, wouldn’t you take the initiative to inform the public about the imitation? If you think critically and without emotions, you will easily recognize that the Trustpilot reviews are fake and part of a smear campaign.
